A plain-language overview of the support services New Jersey's División de Discapacidades del Desarrollo (DDD) funds — community-based support, respite, transportation, and more — and how each one helps.
New Jersey's División de Discapacidades del Desarrollo (DDD) supports eligible adults age 21 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Funded largely through Medicaid, DDD helps individuals live, work, and take part in their communities with the right mix of support.
Day-to-day help that builds independence — assistance with daily living skills, community activities, and social participation, delivered where the person lives and spends their day.
One-on-one assistance tailored to a person's goals: activities of daily living, customized meal planning, household management, safety awareness, and support with appointments and medication reminders.
Support to take part fully in community life — local events, volunteer opportunities, hobbies, and building friendships and social skills in inclusive settings.
Respite gives family caregivers short-term relief, in-home or out-of-home, while transportation provides safe, reliable rides to appointments, day programs, employment, and community activities.
